What proud parents we are!!!

Me and hubby love to shoot and we are raising our kids to do it too. Note : we are not forcing them to they just want to. We are firm believers on safety and are teaching our kids what to do and how to act around guns. Always to treat a gun as if it is loaded. Never point the gun at anyone and so on. They are very good around guns and don't touch them without one of us around, but also we do keep them out of reach in the safe. We are very proud parents that they are learning as they grow up.

My 40th Birthday

Well today is the day I turned 40. WOW I was having a hard time this past week, but when the day arrived it wasn't so bad. It seems like only yesterday (6 months) ago that my sister pulled off a surprise early birthday party for me. It was so much fun seeing everyone and listening to Mento Buro. Today turned out great and I kept it a secret from co-workers. I don't like all the attention especially when you get to be my age. ha ha
I was welcomed home by a beautiful arrangement of flowers from my parents. THANKS Mom & Dad Hotrod.

Rooster's 2nd Grade Concert

Rooster's class
See him in the middle??? lol Who could miss the red hair?
Getting ready to do his lines

The music teacher
Rooster saying his lines. I think he was the best one in the bunch, but that's coming from his mom. He spoke clearly and slowly so everyone understood him. YEAH
Rooster had his 2nd Grade Concert tonight (1-26-10). He had a speaking part that we have been working on for weeks. He really got it the first couple of days, but we keep it going so he didn't forget. I was so scared that my little shy boy would end up not wanting to do it at the last second. To my surprise he did fantastic. Oh my gosh what proud parents we were that he's starting to come out of his shell. I was more embarrassed than he was because I put in a few hours of my time time to help put together the costume's and she mentioned all my work. Thank GOD she didn't ask me to stand! Sorry about the red eye I didn't fix it before I posted it.

We were getting bored today. So we decided to pack up the kids and head up the hill to our favorite sledding spot. Luckily there was no one there. Rooster was at his friends house when we decided to go, so we invited his friend to join us. We had a great time. We only were there for a little over an hour before the kids got hungry.

Skeet shooting

Herd of elk
elk resting
Yesterday we were invited to a ranch about 10 miles away to skeet shoot. It was so much fun even if I chickened out in shooting. I had to watch the kids that was my excuse, but it really was because I haven't shot in awhile and I didn't want to miss all or most in front of everyone. Hubby and our friends did so good I think they only missed a couple. There was about 35-40 people shooting and they went thru 1400 skeet's in the 2 1/2 hours. I will be practicing for next month shoot.

As we were taking the back road there we saw a herd of elk eating about 100 yards away. On the way home they were bedding down resting and here are a few pictures of them. Look at the 1st pictures see how many you count all the way up the hill.

Grandpa with his other grand daughter
Rooster & Sweetie Pie with their cousin and uncle
Me and the kids flew to California this year on the Sunday before Christmas. We stayed in Riverside with family. Had a great 4 days. Dad drove down and got there on Christmas Eve. We haven't seen all of this side of the family since moving to Colorado. It was so good to see everyone. Expecially seeing all the 7 kiddo's running around and playing great with each other.

Waiting in line for Nemo ride
We planned Disneyland well it was going to be on a weekday, but mom changed it to a weekend. Glad she did. The 8 of us had a great time even with the crowds. We only got about 5 rides in because of the lines, but we got to ride the one's we wanted to. Thanks Jon for staying for the fireworks show even though you didn't really want to. Special THANKS to mom and dad for the great Christmas gift.
